100 Years of Dedicated Service
Royal Blue 615, Larne, recognised 100 years of dedicated service when the Provincial Grand Master R.W. Brother John McLernon presented two 50 year Jewels. It was a fabulous evening of fraternal friendship & Brethren had travelled far & wide to celebrate the occasion. These included the indefatigable R.W. Brother Jack O Dunlop, Past Provincial Deputy Grand Master and Grand Father of Lodge 615, the ever assiduous R.W. Brother Field Robinson. Great to see both looking great and in good health. The Provincial Grand Secretary R.W. Brother Russell Millar represented Grand Lodge in his office of Grand Lodge Standard Bearer. To all the brethren thank you for a warm welcome, handshakes, smiles, stories, and good craic.
The recipients of the Jewels were Worship Brothers John Campbell and Ken Robinson
Worship Brother John Campbell was proposed on 4th May 1973 by Brother R Rainey seconded by Brother G. Wallace. The ballot was held on 4th September 1973, followed by the 1st on Degree 26th January 1974. The Lodge at that time temporarily met in Cairncastle Masonic Hall, due to construction of the new St Johns Place Hall. It was an emergency meeting so John could attend the Lodge installation to be held on 1st February 1974. The Festive board was held in Ballygalley Castle which cost a princely £2.25. John received his 2nd Degree on the 3rd of May 1974, and was congratulated by the Lodge on the birth of his son in November and the following May he received his 3rd Degree. (2nd May 1975).
John was Installed as Worshipful Master in 1983, and held the office of Treasurer from 2000 to 2010. He is currently a Trustee and Auditor of the Lodge. In recognition of his long service to the Lodge and Freemasonry in Larne he was appointed as a Provincial Grand Steward in 2024.
Worship Brother Ken Robinson was proposed on 5th October 1973 by Brother R Rainey seconded by Brother M. Craig. The ballot was held on 14th December 1973, and he received his 1st on Degree 1st April 1974. Followed by the 2nd Degree on 6th September 1974, and his 3rd Degree on the 13th May 1975.
Ken was Installed as Worshipful Master in 1984 and the following year installed his successor. He held the office of Treasurer from 2010 to 2011, and in recognition of his long service he was appointed as a Provincial Grand Sword Bearer in 2011.
