HOW TO BECOME A FREEMASON….

Many people assume that to become a Freemason, one must be invited to join.  This is not the case.  In fact, while members might encourage their friends to join, they do not typically recruit or invite candidates for membership.

A person who is interested in joining is encouraged to simply ask a member.  Even if you don’t know a member and wish to join, use the “Interested in joining?” link below and a member of the Provincial Grand Lodge will be happy to deal with your enquiry and put you in touch with a suitable lodge in your area.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF BECOMING A FREEMASON?

The process will start with a very informal chat and the opportunity to meet with some of the Freemasons from your local lodge to chat about what it means to be a freemason and so you can get a better idea of what might be expected of you. It’s also a great opportunity for you to ask some questions and ensure that becoming a member will fit in with your lifestyle.

Once this stage is completed you and your family will likely be invited to come along and enjoy one of our social gatherings, an opportunity to meet and socialise with other members. After this, if you are still keen to join us you will be proposed by two members and your name and details will be put to a ballot. It is likely that the whole process may take a couple of months.
