Harp & Crown Masonic Lodge No.60 provides Afternoon Tea

The Harp and Crown Masonic Lodge is a lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ireland part of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Antrim and is based in Ballymena.  The Lodge members have not been able to meet since March due to the Covid-19 virus lockdown.  Many of its members are elderly and have been isolating during the Pandemic.

       Special Delivery
On the morning of Thursday 29th October 2020, George collected forty (40) Afternoon Tea boxes from Delightful Bites and together with helpers delivered the Afternoon Teas to Lodge Members and Lodge Widows, in Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady, Londonderry and as far as Enniskillen.  Covid-19 social distancing rules were always observed. The Worshipful Master and a number of  Officers’ decided to treat all the Lodge Members and Lodge Widows to an Afternoon Tea.  The original idea came from the Lodge Treasurer George, a Provincial Assistant Grand Master, which, the Officers agreed was a great idea.   Mrs Jacqui Johnston of Delightful Bites of Ballymena [email protected] was contacted and supplied the “Afternoon Tea for two in a box.”

             A Scrumptious feast

The Afternoon Teas were much appreciated by all with many expressing their pleasure at the thoughtful and kind gesture by the Lodge in these trying times of Covid-19.

One widow wrote, “Very many thanks for your generosity to me and all members of the Harp and Crown Masonic Family.  We had a delicious afternoon tea, due to your foresight and generosity.  This was a brilliant idea and very much appreciated.”

A thank you card from a member and his wife said,” A delightful Tea box which we thoroughly enjoyed.”
Another Lodge Widow wrote, “In spite of the bad times we are living in at present it, is reassuring to know there are many good people about who do good acts of kindness to show support for those for whom it is not so easy.  Such a lovely gesture to provide Afternoon Tea in a box.”

 Who ate all the buns

Others posted selfie photos on WhatsApp with the Afternoon Tea in pride of place on the best china and crockery with various positive comments of thanks.

The Afternoon Tea in a box was a great successs at Halloween even though there wasn’t a bat, witch, or broomstick inside.

What next,  Christmas pudding in a basket?
