Sometimes you get one, possibly two but tonight the Provincial Grand Master, R.W. Brother John McLernon had the pleasure of presenting three 50 year Jewels. At the stated communication of Crumlin Royal Blue 140, Brother Trevor Brown, W. Brother David Best and W. Brother Cecil Crawford where presented with their 50 year Jewels and Certificates. This is a fantastic achievement for these Brethren.
Bro Trevor Brown was proposed on 8th February 1974, by Bro Jack Brown and seconded by Bro Addy Wilson. On the 13th September 1974 he was initiated and his 1st degree was conferred by W. Brothers Jack Morris, Porter and Cummings. On the 18th April 1975 he was passed to the F C degree, by Brother Andy Kelly. This was the 1st time Brother Andy Kelly was involved in degree work. On the 18th May 1975, he was raised, his M. M degree was conferred by W. Brothers Morris and Cummings. Trevor has been a dairy farmer since leaving school. He Stopped dairy farming a number of years ago and sold all the dairy stock. He has acted as the auctioneer at a number of charity events.
W Brother David Best received his 1st degree on 27th November 1970 at Fellowship Lodge 530. His 2nd degree on 22nd January 1971 and 3rd degree on 23rd April 1971. He served as Worshipful Master in 1978. W. Brother David Best affiliated to Lodge 140 on the19th January 2024. He was a keen member of Royal Arch Chapter 160 until its closure when he affiliated to Chapter 56. W. Brother David Best is also a Member of Templeton Preceptory. (Treasurer).
W Bro Cecil Crawford joined Lodge 326 he was initiated on the 4th June 1973. He was passed to the 2nd degree on the 12th November 1973 and raised a Master Mason 3rd June 1974. He became Worshipful Master in 1995. He is also a member of Chapter 326. On the closure of Lodge 326 he affiliated to Lodge 140 on the 26 May 2022. W. Brother Cecil Crawford is well known in the area having had a successful Car Sales and Garage in Crumlin. However, he retired a number of years ago. He also successfully raced motorcycles for many years and competed with many top riders around local circuits.
Royal Blue 140 have a number of other Brethren reaching this great Masonic milestone in the coming months.
