Brother Darren Smyth of Alfreds Lodge 59 organises a raffle and raises £500 for Ezra a young man whom has suffered from Meningitis and Amputations

Today, Alfreds Lodge 59 Secretary, WB Michael Snodden and Brother Darren Smyth said they were very proud to be members of the lodge as the lodge was ever mindful of those who have been affected by illness and disabilities outside of Covid 19.

That being the case Brother Darren was able to organise a raffle in aid of a  6 year old local boy called Ezra, ( photo of Ezra is published with kind permission of his parents ).

When he was 14 months old, Ezra was diagnosed with the most severe form of meningitis which resulted in him having both legs and fingers of his right hand amputated.

Today the Worshipful Master Campbell Lawley Snr accompanied by Professor Paul Miller who is Junior Warden in the Lodge were able to hand over to his parents a cheque for £500.00, which the Lodge hoped could be put to good use to assist Ezra with his future development.

Ezra’s Father Cosmin said he had heard of the Freemasons and was so thankful to Alfreds Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge of Antrim who the lodge sits under for their kind assistance as he never thought they helped those outside the order.

WB Snodden added that the lodge plan a further few raffles over next coming months and hope to assist other children.
